Neil Hannon, The Divine Comedy

On aimerait bien l'annonce officielle d'un nouvel album.
Pour le moment, ce sont des dates de concert qui sont annoncées.
Le concert de la Philharmonie est complet pour mercredi, une participation le 30 mai au Festival de Nîmes "This is not a love song" vient d'être confirmée...
Bon il sort quand le nouvel album?

Un Neil Hannon, comme d'habitude, en forme, en voix et généreux. Excellente set-list, de bons musiciens, un très beau son, chouette ambiance... Que demander de plus? Encore un très chouette concert de TDC à mon historique. Décidément, ce mec m'aura rarement déçu. Un bémol: sa barbe un peu longue... On lui pardonne!

Oui je le préfère avec un bouc plus court... mais même si on n'aime pas il veut la garder nous a-t-il dit.
Excellent concert, on s'est éclatés... Cela ma' fait du bien de l'entendre ce soir !

Je viens de survoler l'enregistrement d'Arte... Si ce n'est pas déjà fait, allez-y regardez-le! 
Je pense que j'y reviendrai et que l'on essaiera à la maison de.... Conserver ce souvenir. Il y a quelques passages fabuleux... Le final de Mutual friends transformé en un autre titre connu, sans la danseuse  et tant d'autres choses .... 
J'adore ce type. Mon fils Yoann aussi, cela va sans dire. Sa copine Camille qui le découvrait pour la première fois a été conquise. 

Par contre, pas un mot sur l'éventualité d'un nouvel album

Ils ont coupé l'accueil et l'entracte, sinon, c'est l'intégralité du concert, très bien filmé et téléchargeable si vous avez realplayer (2,3 gigas en HD!). Bien content de l'avoir celui-là!

On l'avait récupéré aussi à la maison... on peut même le mettre sur notre télé assez grande.

Bon, merci de l'info! On attend ça avec une certaine impatience, d'autant plus qu'on n'est jamais (ou presque) déçu avec Neil Hannon. Je pense que c'est peut-être assez compliqué pour lui financièrement pour enregistrer un album avec les exigences qu'il s'impose. Perso, je préfère attendre un peu plus longtemps pour un album de qualité, plutôt que me taper un album racoleur comme avait pu l'être "Regeneration" (belles compos, mais production complètement inadéquate, sans parler de l'interprétation geignarde qui est sans doute l'aspect qui me dérange le plus dans cet album).

Hello Everyone,

I'm getting too old for all this. Two weeks in the stu-stu-studio and I feel like I've been run over by a bus. Thankfully it all went exceedingly well and all the tracks are in good shape (even if their creator isn't).

Let me give you a rough timeline of this record:

2010 - Bang Goes The Knighthood is released to universal acclaim. It's showered with awards and sells 800,000 copies... oh hang on.

2011 - Being a well known monarchist, Neil completes compositions for the Royal Opera House and Royal Festival Hall. Everyone adores them and he becomes even more famous and wealthy than he already is... um no, that's not right.

2012 - Neil thinks he ought to start writing a new DC album. Goes to the pub with Thomas and Tosh instead. Starts work on cricket album the following week.

2013 - Neil comes home from DLM tour, makes a cup of tea, twiddles his thumbs, tries to remember what he was about to do before he went to the pub. Oh yeah, DC album! Off he trots to his and Cathy's writing room in the National Concert Hall (for which he most heartily thanks the NCH). By the end of 2013 there are 7 or 8 recognisable tunes. Strangely though it's all banging synth pop...

2014 - to begin with it's just more synth pop, then gradually things start to slant in a more Hannon-ish direction. By the summer there are maybe 14 or 15 tunes in a myriad of different styles and incarnations. Then Neil and Cathy decide to move house...

2015 - ...the lord of all he surveys scratches his lordly head and tries to remember what he does for a living. Of course, DC album! By April/May there are around 22 songs. 'That'll have to do', he sighs, and calls his unbelievably patient manager. Over the summer he struggles (while watching the cricket) with which songs should make the album and in what order. For a long time it is a double album. But that's just silly. Eventually conclusions are reached, 22 songs are reduced to 13, studios and musicians are booked, brows perspire.

Cut to present day.

I must say it's all sounding splendid. With that of course comes the added pressure of not wanting to bugger it up. Which is surprisingly easily done. I've a couple of weeks now until it's back to Londinium for the orchestral sessions. A short while after that we will attempt to mix it. Then master it. Manufacture it. Release (probably not til the Spring at the earliest.) Promote. Tour. Go home. Twiddle thumbs. Start a new one. Aaaggghhhh!!!!

A priori The Divine Comedy sera à l'affiche du Arte Festival à la Gaîté Lyrique le 15 avril prochain. Ouverture des billets le 17 février prochain (mercredi prochain).
J'ai eu une frayeur car Yoann et moi allons voir William Sheller le 16

ça me plairait bien mais comme c'est dans le cadre d'un festival j'aimerais avoir des précisions sur les billets. vais je devoir me farcir les autres groupes cra cra ou bien il y a des billets pour chaque représentation.

La Gaîté Lyrique est déjà "sold out"... Ravie d'avoir pris des places ce matin dès l'ouverture

Drôle de pochette... Ni belle, ni laide, mais ça intrigue et même si les seuls albums qui ne me plaisent pas de lui sont ceux avec une illustration sans sa tronche, j'espère que ce ne sera pas de mauvaise augure... Je l'imagine assez mal me décevoir de toutes façons.

La pochette correspond au décor que nous avions eu lors du Arte Festival... C'était donc un avant goût de l'album...
2 dates aux Folies Bergères En janvier ... C'est loin aussi mais il faudra surveiller la mise en vente... Cela part vite
